The old adage says that good things come in small packages. Similarly, the most creative, compelling displays of raw, human emotion can come from the smallest of theaters. You don't need big stages or fancy costumes to experience Chicago’s best drama. With its intimate 50-seat venue, the award-winning Profiles Theatre in Uptown lets you enjoy the action up close and personal—and, really, isn't that how it should be? Fewer barriers and pretenses allow the audience to actually be affected rather than numbed (that is the purpose of fluff television, not good theater).

The brainchild of five Eastern Illinois University graduates, Profiles consistently brings provocative, intelligent performances to the Windy City. From their humble beginnings as artists-in-residence at the Wright College Theatre Building to their current home, the not-for-profit professionals never forget their mission—captivating and connecting with the audience.

Since 1988, Profiles has staged successful adaptations of plays by David Mamet, Sam Shepard and Neil Labute, as well as several U.S. and Midwest production premieres. The company also offers advance scene study classes for fellow actors, however size is limited to ten students and auditions are required.

Generally, tickets cost between $25-30, with a $5 discount for students and seniors. If you’re driving, a parking garage nearby has rates between $6-10.
