Granville-Barker's play suggests that nothing has really changed since 1905.

The original "Voysey Inheritance" was written in the early 1900s. David Mamet wrote his adaptation in 2005. Nonetheless, the play seems special-ordered for the credit-crunched moment known as Right Now, 2008. Critics say that "Voysey," about a young man who discovers that his family's wealth was built on his father's recklessly overdrawn mismanagement of other people's money, has corporate malfeasance to make it relevant, Victorian frock coats to make it pretty and crackling dialogue to make it fun. Go see it, and forget about your 401k for a while.
