Mozart's tumultuous life goes from the big screen to the stage.

You've seen the movie? Fine. See this too. Peter Schaeffer's grandiloquent opera-sans-singing is a consummately theatrical experience, distinct from its celluloid twin. The story, about the obsessive, mediocre Salieri's take-down of Mozart, has epic scope and iconic pull. And director Gary Griffin, who knocked out loads of re-interpreted musicals for Chicago Shakespeare before helming a little thing called "The Color Purple," is no slouch. According to reviews, his production is dynamically staged, visually gorgeous and above all, perfectly cast. You won't get a chance to see another "Amadeus" like this live anytime soon.
