Located in the middle of a series of storefronts on South Western Avenue, this Morgan Park bakery certainly doesn't do much to stand out visually, offering only a small marquee and a weathered sandwich board for identification. But step inside this bean-pie haven, and the smell of fresh baked goods will ensure that you never pass by the place again. A.M.'s Sweet Lil Me Me’s Bakery has been at its current location since 2002, but its history dates back thirty years to the Southeast Side of the city, where locals and members of the Nation of Islam came in waves for the signature bean pies.

Those bean pies are indeed worthy of their reputation. Sweet and moist, with a crust that melts in your mouth, these should be savored by any denomination. Visitors to A.M.'s can also choose from a wide array of cookies, pies and brownies. The brownies here are nearly the size of a mini cake, with a rich spongy texture that'll set off a party in your mouth. The staff at A.M.'s will also give you samples of their goods to try, and serve fresh coffee and soft drinks.
