The signage still bears the name of Don’s Fish Market, a North Shore staple for Boston-shipped seafood since 1975, but the Indian owners who recently bought the place out are re-carpeting the nautical themed floors and walls to match all the tandoori and naan kitchen additions.

Don’s won’t be completely scrapped. Rather, most of the filets, shellfish and land-lover tokens will just see a push over the south side of the building, where a more bar-friendly ambiance provides for a gateway to the adjacent Comfort Inn motel. No word on a price skimming – $30 entrees probably won’t sell well next to shots of Jager and bottles of Bud Light. Same for its mostly Californian wine selection – presentation’s kind of lost without tablecloths. But the sandwiches – fried grouper, Cajun salmon, BBQ chicken – are already set fairly under $10.

The north side, the side where Eddie Vedder used to sling crab legs and crawfish etoufee as a waiter in his youth, when the place was hopping enough to catch the eyes of potential buyers, will feature the aforementioned Indian eats for roughly half the price of the Don’s listings. Think lamb curries, shrimp vindaloo and biryani preparations never pushing $13, while samosa apps – potatoes, onion, peas, coriander stuffed pastries – go for under $3.
