Somewhere on the seventh floor of Macy's is the Frango Cafe, famously known for its fantastic mint truffles, although considerably less so since Marshall Field's became just plain old Macy's.
Separate from the rest of the food court but no less important, the Cafe offers a variety of desserts as fuel to the countless wandering Macy's shoppers, weary and worn out from buying too many clothes, toys, perfumes and pillows. This includes the most basic dessert known to man (an ice cream cone—crazy!—for $2-$3), the smallest banana split known to man (seriously, that's basically its name), shakes and malts (the usual flavors, $4.25), ice cream pie ($4.50) and last but not least, the Frango cheesecake (oddly made by Eli's Cheesecake).
But that's not all! Considering this is a cafe and not an ice cream parlor from 1950s middle America with the swirling stools and white paper hats, Frango has a few scant "real" food items to tide you over until you can find a more meaningful meal. (Perhaps at home, perhaps down the street or perhaps across the way at the food court.) This includes a selection of salads and sandwiches, and not much else.
Still, high quality mints are high quality mints, be they under the header of Marshall Field's or Macy's or Kentucky Fried Mint Town. Which basically means that if you're a chocoholic you should probably stay as far away from Frango's as possible. No use in tempting yourself and ruining all the progress you made at Chocoholics' Anonymous.
