Chi Tung is the one-stop spot for Asian cuisine in the South Suburbs, serving Chinese, Japanese and Thai dishes.
The restaurant is wildly popular, meaning guests will almost always find themselves waiting for a table if they don't make reservations. The all-you-can-eat lunch buffet (a mere $6.95 Monday-Friday from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.) is one reason for the crowds; it's a great deal considering the more expensive items on the regular menu, like the Cantonese-style family dinner for 2 at $26.95. If you do order off the menu, just remember to bring your appetite or ask for a doggy bag because portions are large.
Chi Tung's interior is sleek and modern; the dining room is not terribly large, and there is a sushi bar directly in the middle of the restaurant that can seat several curious sushi eaters as they watch the three chefs masterfully create a traditional California roll ($3.95) or a New York roll (shrimp, crabmeat, mayo, masago, cucumbers, avocado, and apple for $4.25).
The restaurant is a great place to bring your family or a date. The warm amber-colored walls are soothing, and the efficient and courteous staff makes you feel welcome and appreciated.
