The motto of Capra’s is “Why not Sushi & Coffee?” Indeed, why not? The businesspeople and attorneys within walking distance of this tiny joint happen to love the unlikely combination. They come in the morning looking for coffee and come back again in the early afternoon looking for lunch. Though tables are scarce and most people order take-out, there is a contingent of folks who enjoy eating in, since a sushi chef is stationed up front and gives a good show.
You might think that Capra’s dual nature would lead to its falling short in one department or the other, with either its coffeeshop aspect or its sushi bar being not quite up to snuff. The opposite is true. As a cafe, Capra’s excels, offering Colombian, Kenyan, Ethiopian, Guatemalan and Viennese coffees, as well as blends and flavored options. Capra’s sushi menu matches that of any sushi-centric restaurant. In addition to sushi, you can order edamame, miso soup, spicy ramen or tofu dishes Another bonus at this unusual site is that the staffers are exceptionally friendly and helpful and don’t mind multi-tasking.
