If you walk around Pilsen and can't find a suitable taqueria to grab a quick tasty bite, you either aren't looking hard enough or you're just fussy. Azteca Tacos is located near the heart of Pilsen, where 18th Street and Blue Island intersect, in a row of similar restaurants, some bigger.
Walk inside and the grill is directly to your right, hot and ready for your order. The sides of the restaurant each contain five booths, with banquet-style seating set up in the middle. Take a seat, wait for the complimentary chips and salsa (including three types of heat) to arrive, put a ten in the internet jukebox, and order some of the most succulent Mexican food in Pilsen. Mountainous tostadas are a steal at $2 each; a couple can be a meal in itself. Or order a shrimp cocktail for $10.95 and get your pesce on. Beers are available, if you want your basic Mexican selections. So order one and add salt, lime and hot sauce to make a spicy chelada.
