You may not be dining in an actual garden, but you will find a bouquet of Italian dishes to choose from. So why the name? In 1932 Grandma Angelina Scornavacco opened a beer and wine garden on the corner of Railway and Washington Avenues: the "Gardens." In the 1944, Tony and Ellen Scornavacco "served the first pizza to grace restaurant tables on the North Shore" (or so goes the story). In 1982 the pizza-slinging tradition was renewed at its current location.
So, as you can expect, there's pizza; choose from standard toppings like sausage, pepperoni and olives. But the menu has grown in sophistication over the years. You'll also find veal limone, Sicilian-style pork chops and a New York strip, along with a number of pasta dishes. Dessert options include favs like tiramisu, but the taffy apple sundae is more intriguing.
