Add some "umpf" to your workout routine at the ultra-hot Sheila Kelley's S Factor studio. Kelley, an actress from L.A. Law and Singles, began S Factor in 2001 after playing a stripper in the movie Dancing at the Blue Iguana. To prepare for the role, she studied with ladies experienced in the craft of stripping. She liked the way it carved her body, so she continued using it as a workout after the movie finished filming. Friends became interested and soon she was holding small classes out of her home. It wasn't long before she opened several studios in California and throughout the United States.

Don't mistake this for a class on how to prepare for a career as a stripper. The class uses classical ballet, aerobics, yoga and modified stripper routines to attain two goals: getting your body in shape (you'll use nearly every muscle when working on the floor and with a pole) and helping women celebrating their sexuality. Small classes and low lighting ensures everyone can feel comfortable to move how they like. Fitting for all ages and fitness levels, the classes include students who have never worked out before and even senior citizens.

The large, airy main studio has calming neutral walls and wooden floors, with several shining silver poles standing strong in succession, red lamps and gauzy walls. Reds, golds and purples decorate the second space, a Moroccan-style room.

Classes: Classes are offered in eight-week sessions for at six levels; they cost $440. To test your interest, you can stop in for an intro class for $40. The schedule changes each session and can be found online. You can also keep an eye out for striptease classes offered around special occasions like Valentine's Day.

Extras: A lot of people aren't sure what to wear to a striptease class, but it's really whatever you feel comfortable moving in. Many people wearing sweats to classes and switch to flashy, revealing outfits as they become more aware and celebratory of their bodies.
