The general public can access this beach from Ardmore, but for the foolhardy among us, there is the Thorndale entrance. Walk past the highway barrier separating this part of the beach from the paved world and step into a realm of begrudged seagulls, rocky sand and sleepy loiterers. A grassy hill and a small crag of bleached boulders with a lonesome lifeguard's tower separate this inlet from the rest of the beach.
The rest of the beach to the south is relatively peaceful, considering the caustic nature of the water. Much more relaxing and secluded than the shoreline closer to the city, Osterman is a fine place to get some sand in your crack.
