Grand Lux Cafe Review
In July I attended the AFT Convention. Although a cab-ful of delegates made it to the Grand Lux for lunch one day, I did not. All I heard about was the wonderful food choices and beautiful views to Michigan Avenue. When I returned home to the suburbs I convinced my husband we had to spend a day seeing our magnificent city and dine at the Grand Lux Cafe. My husband ordered a wedge salad that he says matches none other, plus a burger prepared on cheesy toasted bread. The portions were huge, well prepared, and just plain delicious! This week we are coming downtown with friends to try the Segways and something new on the Grand Luxe menu!!

Garlic and Chili Review
I dream about Garlic and Chili. I'll go back as often as I can to try out everything on the menu. The staff is friendly, (in a way only Thai people can be) tables look into the kitchen where you can see your meal being prepared, and you can watch the characters walking into the "Transients Welcome" hotel next door. And the food! The tom yum soup with vegetables is perfectly spicy and fishy- you can tell the veggies are fresh. Everything is seasoned to Thai food heaven; the green chili is creamy, coconut-y, slighty spicy goodness. The chicken with cashews is loaded with veggies and crunchy nuts and the just enough garlic. Also, I'm not normally a fan of Thai desserts but I knew I couldn't go wrong when I tried their special: sticky rice with mangoes. A bed of sticky rice (which is huge, be sure to bring a friend) is drizzled in a sweet coconut sauce and sesame seeds and surrounded by ripe, succulent slices of mango. Garlic and Chili has never done me wrong. Go often and be thankful you did!

A.P. Deli Review
The best corned beef sandwich ever! An abundance of super thin corned beef piled high, tender and tasty. I take several back to Maryland every time I come home for a visit.

Karyn's Cooked Review
As a vegetarian from europe I always include a visit here when in Chicago. I have not found a better veggie place. If anyone can recomend one I will give it a try. Meanwhile I will look forward to my next visit to Karyn's.

The service has always been very good and the food superb. Like most North American veggie places much of the menu is presented as meat substitute items: who needs that? Lets just have good veggie food. Keep up the good work Karyn.

Noodle Zone Review
This resturant is a great place for both lunch or dinner. For those who love Thai dishes, you have to try their three flavor chicken or basil chicken, and for those who love Japanese food, my favorite makis are the tempura sweet potato maki and the philly maki. But of course there are way too many good dishes to recommend so you must go try it for yourselves. Another great thing about Noodle Zone is their sushi buffet. I love sushi, and Noodle Zone has made me come to love it even more! I've been a customer at this resturant ever since I moved into this neighborhood, and i'm planning on trying everything on their menu. I've gained so much weight when I was younger eating fast-food, so after finding a resturant, like noodle zone, with healthy dishes that satisfies my taste bud, i'm for sure going to stick with it. This place is cheap, quick, and friendly which always makes me happy.

Duke's Bar Review
I went to Dukes for the first time last Saturday to see MR G and his mystery band. I din,t know about MR G but his sax player Mike I think his name was blew the roof off the place! I love the informal vibe there and I will be back.

Rosebud on Taylor Review
This restaurant is a true taste of the best of Italy. Fresh, quality ingredients are prepared with a deft hand and an eye to bringing out the best flavors. My Italian grandmother would eat here if she were living and I only saw her eat out once...at our wedding!

Plymouth Restaurant and Bar Review
There aren't too many decent lunch spots in the South Loop, but this place stands out for being reasonably priced with decent food. Things like the Caeser and taco salads are above average for a place like this. Most sandwiches are also decent. They have a fair amount of choices for entrees and sides. For example, don't want fries? Get chips or a fruit salad. There are three floors to choose from. Main floor for typical dinner, basement for the bar crowd and rooftop. On the roof they serve a limited menu, but its probably the best outdoor seating in the loop. Warning, the place can be a little crowded when school is in session for peak hours, especially on Friday night. Staff is very good. The food isn't going to win any awards, but you could do a lot worse.

Rosa's Lounge Review
I love this Wonderful place... kick back and just enjoy the great music. We saw Pinetop Perkins and many more amazing artists here. The prices are extremely reasonable (they probably should go up but the owners are just too nice!). The owners ARE really nice and often are around to enjoy the music too. The crowd size varies but often it's just a little smaller than you'd expect which makes for a very comfortable atmosphere. Still a cool place to see and be seen!

Di Pescara Review
FABULOUS! We split a large caesar salad last night and it was wonderful. Then we had the petite filet and the veal milanese. Both were just delicious. The veal was almost falling off of the plate, so lunch is going to be great today. Plenty of parking, GREAT waiter...totally positive experience.

Molly's Cupcakes Review
I love this place. I had the red velvet and it was amazing. My friend had the Ron Benningtons and loved it. The staff was super friendly. They seemed genuinely happy to work there. The place itself is decorated with swing (that you get to sit on,) colorful tables and board games. There is even a sprinkle station. Can't wait to go back

Bien Trucha Restaurante Review
I first had a fish taco at the Geneva Festival of the Vine last Sept. I have been looking for the restaurant ever since, and today - almost a year later - found it. I had the fish tacos which are to die for, and a margarita - very delicious. I love the Mexico, and in this restaurant - you are transformed THERE! These folks need a bigger space to accomodate all you would support them in the Fox River Valley. I could eat there every day!

Madame Tartine Review
Love, love this place. The wine selection was amazing and the food was out of this world!! The decor is elegant without feeling stuffy. We had a great server, Gina I think was her name--adorable and super friendly. We will be returning to France soon-

Evanston Grill Review
The bi bim bop, while not completely traditional, is great. Wonderful, fresh veggies and delicious teriyaki beef.

It is a very small storefront restaurant but has a friendly casual vibe. The menu is not huge but there is something for everyone, from grilled cheese for the kids to the bi bim bop and chicken teriyaki.

I highly recommend them!

Madame Tartine Review
I enjoyed outside dining for lunch on a beautiful day at Madame Tartine (Shaw's is across the street and unfortunately for them, they have no outdoor dining.) The menu has many simple French dishes I like a lot. The service was good - the country salad and salmon entree was very good (though not great). The restaurant looks very cool inside and would be a great atmosphere at night, whether just to go for a drink or to have dinner. I will return.

Violet Hour Review
i don't think that it's pretentious at all; although i understand how one might draw that conclusion. i was afraid of the same thing - that is until i got in. i then realized that this place is very focused on creating a perfect atmosphere for you to enjoy with your company. being pretentious would work counter to what i believe is this goal.

every person in the bar is treated equally and with great service; everyone has a seat and there could never be more people in the establishment than they could properly service. the music selection and volume along with the lighting, decoration and overall atmosphere seem to have been chosen with great attention to detail and i consider this to be a breath of fresh air.

if the whole waiting thing isn't something you want to do then go during a week night or off-beat hour. this isn't the type of place that does VIP or treats some people differently than others. there are customers who are experiencing violet hour (who have waited their turn in line) and there are those who are waiting for their chance. you can't blame violet hour for taking care of its customers first, no matter how many people want to be customers.

i enjoyed my drinks and food, but really just wanted to comment on what i believe is the real beauty of this establishment: respect and atmosphere.

Sushi Para II Review
Great food and value! The $17.99 All-You-Can-Eat buffet might be the best deal in the city! No confusing rules or limits on what types of sushi you can order, and the sushi comes straight from the chefs and is not pre-made. Simple interior, but the food speaks for itself. Highly recommended!
