| Three of Chicago's finest outside the box jazzers -- reedman Ken Vandermark, drummer Hamid Drake, and bassist Kent Kessler -- sometimes perform together under this moniker, including an afternoon gig at the 1999 Chicago Jazz Festival with special guests Hamiet Bluiett & Ray Anderson. they "play with so much power, intuition, and imagination," says Chicago Reader critic Peter Margasak, "that they hardly need guests to make their daringly free music special." DKV have released a CD Fred Anderson (on OkkaDisc), recorded with Joe Morris, performed live with Joseph Bowie, and released several CDs on OkkaDisc and played many fine gigs on their own.
