There's more than one way for girls to get to that happy place.

Dear Maven,

What’s the best sex position for women to orgasm?

~Jonesin'

I appreciate your directness, Jonesin'. I like my sex questions like I like my sex: quick and grammatically sound. Though picking the best sex position for ladies is like deciding which Victoria's Secret model is the hottest or which Hills character has had the most plastic surgery. It's just not possible. If you haven't had much luck with the standard positions: missionary, doggy-style, the cowgirl, rueful gerbil and the existential mullet, it may be a simple matter of rhythm, lack of clit stimulation or that you are ramming into her cervix.

You don't need a trapeze or even a really good salad spinner to make your partner climax, though positions where the woman is on top (kneeling, sitting, squatting) give her more control over the pressure and depth of penetration. Have her tilt her hips forward, thus creating more friction for her clit. In positions where the woman is on bottom, establishing a rhythm is key. A common mistake I see at the Elks Lodge dinners where I lecture is that once someone finds something their partner likes, they speed up or increase the intensity, when really you should just keep doing what you're doing. Be consistent. Like Adam Sandler. If she likes the G action, you can't go wrong with reverse cowgirl (woman on top but facing away), rear entry (especially fun if bent over a couch or unsuspecting Wal-Mart shopper) or a spooning position. The downside to this is that it's typically not easy to orgasm from G-spot stimulation (side note: About.com referred to this as a "uterine orgasm." Personally, I don't want orgasms going anywhere near my uterus, or my car. That's why I always have them at Home Depot). Lastly, use your hands whenever it's physically possible to do so. The biggest evolutionary joke of all time is how far away the clitoris is from the vaginal opening. We'd like a hand, please.

Anna Pulley, our Meet-Market Maven, has been on more bad dates than J. Lo's been to divorce court. She's been a one-date wonder and Wonder Woman. She's bi, and no she doesn't want to sleep with your boyfriend, thanks. When she's not giving advice, she enjoys theme parties for every and any occasion and working as a Carnal Consultant for Early to Bed. Buy her a drink or ask her a question already.
