Description of Mecca Supper Club

Come for the sautéed tenderloin, stay for the drunken karaoke. Edison Park's Mecca Supper Club represents a refreshingly casual blend of classy dining and misguided renditions of top 40 classics. A "rustic northwoods" theme unifies the interior, with wood-lined walls like an Upper Peninsula cabin and plenty of animals – especially fish - hung proudly on the wall.

Mecca's dinner menu impresses from its sheer versatility. Pretty much anything goes: homemade pizza (a large cheese serves 3-4 for only $11.95), classic fettucinni alfredo for $13.95 or a filet mignon steak sandwich for $14.95. A 12-ounce burger? Country fried chicken? A full-slab of ribs? It's pretty much every essential culinary aspect of Americana, and this is without mentioning their selection of seafood and the much cheaper Sunday brunch menu. Save room to try Mecca's homemade bread pudding with custard sauce or apple cobbler caramel pie. The kitchen is open until 1 a.m. for that late-night craving of potato skins you swore you wouldn't have. Also for late-night cravings: plenty of beer.

And, of course, the karaoke provides enough comical entertainment to keep you until closing time, starting at 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. If you want to provide a little encouragement to the awkward dude struggling to finish Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight," don't be afraid to hit the dance floor. There should be plenty of brave souls willing to join you.
