Editorial Review of Katacomb

Lincoln Park's deepest, darkest after-hours haunt bills itself as an "underground playground." The dim, cave-like space comes complete with enough candles to put Pottery Barn out of business and wall paintings of compromising cavemen that would make Fred Flinstone blush. A DJ spinning everything funky (the Katacomb soundtrack covers everything from R&B to house) keeps the late-night party people bouncing till the wee hours.

Behind the candlelit bars, tenders shake up late-nightcaps from top-shelf ingredients, and Friday's special $5 Red Bull Vodkas will rev you up nicely for your 4 a.m. wind. Just be warned that the big crowds can make service a little slow. If you're up for delivery (read: too tired to wait in line at the packed bar) call ahead and reserve a space in the VIP lounge, which opens at 2 a.m. and caters to those who can shell out the dough for bottle service. Speaking of spending, sorry boys: There's a $10 dollar cover for men compared to $5 for ladies after 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday; before then it's $0-$5, depending on the crowd.
