If there were a TV show called "Extreme Makeover: Bar Edition," Witt's would be the perfect candidate. Formerly your run-of-the-mill sports bar, Witt's current owners decided that this spot was in need of a change. After months of work, Witt's is the same neighborhood bar with a new look: deep, red and yellow-toned walls, a fresh set of nightly specials and a menu that is not to be missed. Not to worry—you can still catch your sports games.
Witt's outdoor beer garden also received a facelift of sorts. Freshly paint, additional seating and a fully stocked bar replete with a variety of beers on tap make this a perfect spot to rest your laurels after a hard day's work.
Witt's touts itself as "your neighborhood bar & grille." The extra "e" must stand for the extensive menu. The tiny kitchen leaves little room for extravagance, but the management has succeeded in maximizing the space it has to create an array of options costing between $6-$9. Crowd-pleasers include the seared tuna appetizer and barbecue chicken pizza. The burgers are plentiful and affordable, and the waffle fries that come alongside are good enough to write home about. If you're already home, consider yourself lucky.
On Tuesdays, Witt's hosts a Bagg-o league beginning at 7 p.m., and with Wednesdays comes trivia (8 p.m.). Stop by on weekends, when brunch is served 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
