As Printer's Row quickly reaches critical mass as a hot neighborhood, bars and restaurants are popping up just as fast to cater to the new residents. Such is the case with Villain's, a bar and restaurant located across from ongoing new construction that posits itself as a cross between a sports bar, comfortable pub and the city's long-awaited replacement for Lounge Ax. The cross-pollination oddly works.
The first thing you'll notice when walking into Villains is the bar, decorated in multiple prints of Andy Warhol's classic image of a gun-toting Elvis Presley, which sets the theme. The rest of the room is decorated in dark wood tones, dim lighting and black-and-gold wallpaper that suggests a salon.
Drink specials abound at Villains, particularly on the weekend, when you can get your fill of $4 Bacardi O cocktails and that staple of post-graduate binge drinking, the Jager bomb. Saturday's $3 Boddington's draft special is a deal in any neighborhood. Keeping with the theme, Villains offers a variety of heavy-duty martinis served in some of the largest martini glasses you'll ever see. For food options, try the enormous Garbage burger with bacon, avocado and caramelized onions.
