Editorial Review of O'Malley's West

Here are five things to do while you wait for your food at O'Malley's: 1.) Watch the eight or so small televisions all tuned in to the same ESPN station. Maybe it was a slow night for sports, I don't know. 2.) Watch sports on the two big screen TVs. Perhaps you can increase your lip-reading ability trying to figure out what undoubtedly subtle wisecrack Tom Arnold just made on "The Best Damn Sports Show Period." 3.) Sit and enjoy the candle lighting on your table. 4.) Ponder how the people who go to O'Malley's West on Wednesdays recover from the following combination: $1.50 draft drinks, $2 well drinks and karaoke. That is what I call a recipe for a glorious disaster. 5.) Watch the flat-screen in the middle of the bar. Not only does it inform you of what the special for each weekday is, but it also warns you about the monstrous mullets that are out there. Once you watch the warnings on screen, number five will make a little more sense.

As for what to do when you get to your meal (depending on the night that you go, service may be a little slow): Enjoy the food. The menu is small, but basically consists of bar food essentials. Noteworthy selections include the bacon-cheeseburger O'Malley Rally and the Olive Burger, also known as a burger with olive topping. Since O'Malley's primarily attracts students, go early before it gets rowdy. If you want to get your drink on, and you like smaller bars, you've found the right place.
