The side of Johnny O'Hagan's proclaims loudly that it was established in 2000, but it looks much, much older. The bar bears the perfect mark of an older Irish pub, not unlike its down-the-street neighbor, the Irish Oak. With soft, Victorian light fixtures, a large fireplace in the back room and TVs above the bar, Johnny O'Hagan's is the kind of place where you could sit for hours with some cider or beer and just plain old pass time.

Which, incidentally, is what most of the patrons do (and it can get somewhat busy on weekends). The Irish influences may be somewhat oppressive (with a look this old-school Irish, do we need Irish music playing in the background, too?) but it's a warm place, so that's forgiven. Johnny O'Hagans also serves food (pub grub), for those who are hankering for a food fix. All in all, a solid addition to the Wrigleyville area.
