Walk into this once-smoky Irish pub—you can almost see the ghosts of cigarettes past—on a weekday afternoon and you will find the place nearly deserted. The story changes drastically on weekend nights (note: weekends start on Thursdays here); you may have to double check that you aren't at a frat house. Don't be surprised to push your way through an overwhelmingly young crowd, as Durbin's ranks as a favorite of thirsty college kids home on break. Claustrophobes, beware, you are in for cramped quarters and noisy banter.

After you throw some elbows to make your way to the bar, you can throw back plenty of domestic brews (only $1.50 a pop on Thursday nights, and a dollar more on other nights).

Durbin's is open daily for lunch and dinner. The bar has a banquet room for reservations and serves not only typical bar grub (it's best known for its pizza) like Italian beef sandwiches ($5.95), but also mouth-watering full slabs of ribs ($18.95) and loin lamb chops ($19.95).

If you don't much care for being indoors, take advantage of the outdoor patio seating that overlooks all of the exciting goings-on of downtown Tinley Park.
