Too often a sports bar feels far too manufactured, too full of meaningless sports memorabilia and ultimately lacking the soul of a great sporting experience: an easily amused community of casual and diehard sports fans brought together to have a couple of beers and watch the game. The Bridgeport Inn keeps the formula simple: Keep the TVs tuned to the Sox and the alcohol dirt cheap, and eventually a bunch of easygoing, likeminded sports fans will start to congregate with their frequent and loyal attendance.
The Bridgeport Inn mirrors the blue-collar community it's situated within, meaning regulars work hard and then play darts hard. Pool, too; both are wildly popular activities within these walls because both are offered for free. The interior seems a little uncharacteristically dark at first, but your eyes will adjust – just keep them focused one of the big screens. The dim lighting combined with the stereotypical beat-up stools give the Inn an ambiance that would probably feel right at home with a thick cloud of tobacco smoke ever present.
Domestics ($2.75) and imports ($3.25) are fairly priced, but if you're a Budweiser or Miller kind of a drinker, drinks on tap come as cheap as $1.25, meaning that a killer evening of beer and pool might run you $5. Just don't go too crazy or you could blow $8 on this place – just think how devastating that would be.
