Unlike most of the River North galleries that tend to be spacious, light-flooded areas adorned with modern works, Zygman Voss feels more like a room in a stately home or the art library of an extremely intellectual institution. The walls, nooks and crannies in the small space create a maze-like course well worth navigating. Representing only the "masters" of the 17th through 20th centuries, Voss's list of featured artists reads like a syllabus from Art History 101 (read: names everyone who has any interest in art should be able to drop).
Look for paintings by Renoir, Rembrandt, Chagall, Picasso, Dali, Whistler, Miro and Cassatt. Also on display are works by Toulouse-Lautrec, Louis Icart and Berthe Morisot. Exhibitions, which change almost monthly, focus on diverse themes including mythology, the Belle Epoque, and Impressionism.
