This Georgian Revival-style residence built in 1893 was remodeled in 1940 and turned in to a WPA (Works Progress Administration) art center. As one of the handful of WPA art centers to survive, the building is a historical landmark. The placed is drenched in cultural and art history, as it is one of few places to have a Bauhaus-inspired interior design; as well, it has been a pivotal center on the south side for the African American art community in Chicago.
